Ziingo Women and Children Initiative

Ziingo Women and Children Initiative is a non-profit organization based in rural Eastern Uganda. Our mission is to empower and uplift women and children in Eastern Uganda through education and economic activities. We focus on providing essential care and support to vulnerable children and orphans, aiming to collectively rebuild lives and improve livelihoods in rural communities.

Education

Empower through education

Education program

Ziingo’s education program supports marginalized women and children in Uganda by offering quality education, scholarships, and vocational training. It focuses on girls' education, gender equality, and economic empowerment. By creating inclusive learning environments, the program breaks poverty cycles and helps build brighter, self-sufficient futures for underprivileged communities.

Empowerment

Empower. Educate. Uplift.

Empowerment Program

Ziingo’s women empowerment program equips women with education, skills, and resources to improve livelihoods and gain economic independence. It offers training in entrepreneurship, leadership, and vocational skills, while addressing domestic and gender-based violence, sexual health, and rights. The initiative fosters a supportive community for women to thrive and lead.

Advocacy

Key Focus Areas

Ziingo is a registered non-profit organization based in the rural communities of Eastern Uganda. We are committed to transforming the lives of vulnerable women and children through sustainable economic empowerment and access to education.

Operating in the Bugisu sub-region, Ziingo currently serves six key districts: Mbale, Manafwa, Sironko, Bulambuli, Bududa, and Namisindwa.

Our main focus areas include the following;

Education

Ziingo sponsors 57 vulnerable children—particularly those living with HIV, total orphans, survivors of abuse, and victims of child trafficking—by supporting their education. This includes covering school fees, providing meals, and supplying essential scholastic materials such as books, uniforms, pens, and pencils.

Empowerment

We empower vulnerable women—primarily survivors of domestic abuse, widows, and those living with HIV—through support groups focused on economic self-reliance. We provide agricultural support with seeds and training, as well as vocational skills such as making reusable sanitary pads for income generation.

Advocacy

We advocate for women’s rights and gender equality by conducting training sessions on domestic violence and abuse. Through our 10 women support groups, we educate members about the dangers of domestic violence and empower them to recognize their rights, resist abuse, and report perpetrators.
